Choose Java for PC-first control
Choose Java when your group uses desktop clients and wants mods, a broad plugin ecosystem, or more server software choices.
Ask every player to confirm their game version and launcher before you choose a loader or pack.
- Broad mod and plugin ecosystem
- PC-first administration
- Vanilla, Paper, Fabric, Forge, and other software paths
Choose Bedrock for device reach
Choose Bedrock when your group plays on mobile, Windows, or consoles and wants the Bedrock client experience.
Console access follows platform and network rules that the host does not control. Check the exact device path before you promise access.
- Mobile and Windows clients
- Console-specific connection steps
- Different add-on and server software tradeoffs
Check your group before you decide
List each player’s device, edition, account type, game version, and need for mods or plugins. Choose the edition that works for the whole group, not the device owned by the server admin.
- Who needs to join
- Which devices they use
- Which custom features matter
- Who will manage updates and backups
Treat crossplay as a tested setup
A bridge can connect some Java and Bedrock players. It also adds version, login, plugin, and device dependencies. We will label only tested combinations as supported.
